Official: Voigtlander 65/2 Macro Apo-Lanthar
The Voigtlander 65mm f/2 Macro Apo-Lanthar is designed to work with full-frame Sony E-mount cameras where it offers users the ability to get close to their subjects thanks to the 1:2 magnification ratio afforded by the 12.2" minimum focus distance. It has an aspherical element, 10-blade aperture, excellent LoCA correction from its APO design and a fast f/2 aperture.

I hope that the APO writing is meant seriously. Then, this could be a lens for me.

This lens is from the guys who made the Voigtländer Macro Apo Lanthar 125/2.5, Apo Lanthar 90/3.5 and Apo Lanthar 180/4. If the Macro Apo Lanthar 65/2 FE lives up to the world class reputation of the 125/2.5, then it's a must have. It has made it to my short list.

Added to my short list too although it's simply been "announced", so who knows when it will eventually ship. (I'm still waiting for the promised but never delivered 75/1.8 Classic Heliar for Nikon AIS and Canon EOS.)

It is quite a big lens but the rest of the specs sound lovely, could be a lens with a very wide range of applications and great performance.

Not really. It would only go to 1:2 mag.

So the interesting thing is what the true focal length will be at 1:2.

I'd quite like a modern macro that's shorter than the lovely FE 90: sometimes in botanical work a shorter focal length has a more dynamic look.

The 90 is about 70 at 1:1; so if this new lens maintains its focal length at 1:2 it will be very little different. (Which could make it an attractive alternative to the 90 for those who prefer manual and only need 1:2 or happy to add a tube to get 1:1

But not for me; however if 65 becomes 40-50 at 1:2 it'd be ideal...

With a close focus of 0.31 meter = 310 mm, I calculate the focal length to 68.8mm at 1:2 magnification. I'm a bit surprised at that figure, since 68.8 > 65, but I don't think the lens gives up focal length as you focus closer. Also 68.8 is the figure for a completely symmetrical lens, which the 65/2 is not.

I prefer macro lenses that maintain their focal length throughought. To me this is an indication that this lens may be special.

I think this will be a heavy lens, around 500 grams at least. I remember the Loxia 85/2.4 at 590 grams surprised us.

I'm hoping they'll bring out a 100 f2 apo lanthar as well, 110, 125 ? We're really missing longish tele primes.

I got all excited because I forgot was forum I was on. I was hoping this was an SL II S (even though I hate the new classic-Nikkor-knockoff cosmetics and wish they'd go back to the style of the original SL).

Yep, bring on the 125/2.5 in E-mount, an improved 180/4 in E-mount, and a tweeked 40/2 in E-mount . . . I won't hold my breath though.

I was thinking the same thing, but those specs would make it a big APSC lens.

So we sheet states a field of view is 38°. That's consistent with FF. A perfect 65mm on FF would have a field of view of 36.8°. FF it is.
