http://leicarumors.com/2016/09/15/five-new-leica-sl-lenses-to-be-announced-four-primes-and-one-zoom.aspx/

Summicron-SL 35Mm
Summilux-SL 50Mm
APO-Summicron-SL 75Mm
APL-Summicron-SL 90Mm
Super-Vario-Elmar-SL 16-35Mm

This sounds interesting. Certainly will make SL owner exciting. I think these are all AF lens.

To me, Leica either is in some kind of pressure or greedy. They seems introduce a lots of system, working on multiple project at the same time and rush to market. It seems to me a stretch for a small company like Leica. In the mean time. many S owner have become beta testers for their system and big percentage of Lenses having AF problem. (Lens AF will break, a mechanical failure)

I am starting look SL more seriously. might pick it up once the price settle a little. 16-35 sound interesting but who know how much it cost.

My guess for the price.
Summicron-SL 35Mm $3495
Summilux-SL 50Mm $4995
APO-Summicron-SL 75Mm $3995
APL-Summicron-SL 90Mm $4495
Super-Vario-Elmar-SL 16-35Mm $5495

Knowing Leica, delivery will be circa 2018. *ba-dum-tsch*

It will be interesting to see what the size of the Summicrons will be compared to the 50 Summilux. For me the most interesting lens is the 90 Summicron because that is a focal length I find hard to use on the M.

I reckon a lot of SL owners will not like that the 35 is a Summicron rather than a Summilux. Just like the opposite with the 50.

Also the 70 and 90 seem awful close to be released at the same stage of the roadmap. There's a bunch of lenses that should be released before the 70 (macro, 21mm etc)

Size will be huge compare to M. The most scary part for me actually it is a AF lens.

I agree! Though I am fine with 50 to be a lux. I will not buy any of above lens but I am curious about 50.

Yeah why would they release a Lux at one focal length and a Cron at all the others? I mean presumably they eventually plan to have both at all focal lengths but still why do it out of order

I will explain a little about this:
1. I don't trust Leica's AF either performance wise or reliability wise.
2. There will be no aperture ring. You are stuck with the system. You will sink with the SL ship if that is happen.
Yeh, it is happen with S, kind of. But S quality make me willing to risk. I am very satisfied with system.

If you're going to spend the money on the SL as a system, I think you know the risks.

Maybe too many people complaining about how large the SL and (zoom) lenses are pushed Leica to favor a slew of f/2 lenses...

Or cost? How much will a 75 Lux SL cost? I'd fear nearing Nocti territory. Haha.

OTOH, I think it's logical. Sure, f/1.4 is sexier for marketing purposes, but IMO, f/2 is more practical in use. If optical 'perfection' is the goal, f/2 is more doable in respect to size, complexity, cost, etc... I would be impressed if Leica somehow managed to minimize AF bloat in these lenses, but am not too hopeful.

I mean, I agree with all of that. My thing is why they didn't make the 50 a Cron as well.

I know they'd pre-announced it as a Lux, but frak it, this is Leica, they can do whatever they want. They successfully sell digital cameras without screens.

You are right about risk. Ron. If I buy Sl, most likely is not for AF reason but adapt all different lens I have.

I agree with size and speed of lens. F2 is plenty for modern sensor. As an amateur, I always want fast glass though I am pretty sure it will be out of my price range if they are Summilux.

I guess the system is meant to be premium mirror less system and it is a Leica so I shouldn't complain price here.

I did not realize people were buying the SL. Maybe now they will.
