Just to be sure, that works (can access battery and card doors) on an A7RII?
And doesn't interfere with the tech art as well?

Yes, I can access both battery, sd card and usb-hdmi doors

I just got my adapter. This thing is friggin awesome! I love that I can decrease MFD. AF seems pretty quick although it seems to like vertical contrasts more than horizontal. I've been sitting at my desk playing with MFD on the lens and seeing how close I can get with a few lenses. What I am not clear on is this table in the instruction leaflet for different focal lengths. For example, the first line shows:
F11 - 15mm - 4.5 (max aperture) - Infinity (mf parking) - AF (After shoot)

Can someone explain what this means? Currently I have my camera aperture set to f/2 for almost all lenses (including a 15mm) and simply AF at infinity or at MFD (and at various place in between).

By the way, I bought a Fotodiox Leica R to Leica M adapter for my R 28/2.8 and it works with the Techart Pro without issue.

My main issue was mid-zone performance on the A7RII. I'm not sure if the thicker glass exaggerated the effect but it was a pretty significant dip. Center and extreme edges were really good after f/5.6 though. It's an amazing lens but personally I use 21mm more often and the Loxia 21/2.8 is my preferred choice.

That's how it works. My impression is that the other apertures are either for coding the IBIS or for diagnostics (F90 for updating for example).

And yeah it is pretty awesome. Nailing the Noctilux off-center used to be a slow and difficult process. Now it's literally a one-second job

Image taken at closer than MFD with the Leica R 28/2.8 at f/2.8 with the Techart Pro adapter. I'm very happy with this adapter . . . why did I wait so long?

I just needed a little push.

It's amazing . . . especially when you start playing with less than MFD. My CV Ultron 35 @ f/1.7, even my Minolta M-Rokkor 40/2 which has a horrible MFD will see new life (I never liked focusing that lens anyway).

Here's a bigger push. My M-mount Voigltander super wide Heliar wide open (f/4.5) literally less than two inches away from the mug. Listed MFD is 0.5m.

I hear you. One of the biggest complaints of the 50/1.5 ZM is long MFD. It's no longer an issue.

Love that the ZM 35 is close focus now. It was way to far out there. The ZM 85 should be awesome now. Seriously folks I maybe shifting some gears with this adapter I can actually shoot faster and that alone is a game changer.

I wonder if have a defective unit. Shot a few pics with a 45mm (set FL at 50mm), and it autofocused fine. Tuned off the camera, and swapped out the 45 for a 135. Set the FL for 135mm.

No AF function. Only MF.
Swapped the 45 back in, and set the FL again. No joy.

Swapped in a native 28-70. AF works normally.

Swapped the adapter and 45mm in again. Set the FL. AF works.
Swapped in the 135. Set the FL. AF will work if I pre-focus.

Sound like a (known?) bug, or something else?

Another problem I have is that the IOS app can't see the adapter. I'm not sure if that's normal when the FW is up to date (mine appears to be when I check the FW version of the camera).

Anyone else have issues with the FW update app not seeing the adapter?

Looks like B&H is sold out, with no eta or stock request notification up at the moment. Just "unavailable".

Sounds pretty typical to me. That happens occasionally. You will learn which of your actions causes this and mostly avoid that in the future.
Leave the adapter on your camera for a few hours and switch on Bluetooth on your iOS device,
That helped me to finally communicate with the adapter while camera is switched OFF.

I spoke to techartpro about the "135mm" issue.
I was told that it's design decision and not a bug

When setting the aperture to the 135mm, the adapter will switch to MF (instead of AF). The designer wanted to have one aperture choice where the adapter only works in MF.

My advise to them was to remove that and keep AF for that aperture. We can always switch the adapter to MF by pressing a custom button, so in my view, what they did is a little confusing and not needed.

Thanks.

I'll try again in an hour or so, though this sort of voodoo makes zero sense, from a tech standpoint. Either the BT is enabled/working, or it's not.

Also getting a fair number of misfocused shots, after being able to nail it on AF.
For example, I can take a pic of a bookcase corner (about 10' away), and then take one of another object 15' away - with AF working well each time. Then attempting to take another shot of the closer object results in a misfocus or it just hunts.
It looks like the adapter is parking itself somewhere in the middle of it's range, starting it's run from there, and not able to move into the correct position (almost like the adapter thinks it's starting closest to the sensor, but it's midway through it's ROM.

Another observation - I'm able to close focus manually with the lens (shorter MFD), and sometimes can prefocus on something closer (moving the lens off infinity) and the AF will work normally, but often can't find focus a second time.

Sound like "normal" performance for our beta device as well?

That's odd, because I eventually got the 135 in AF mode using their F32 setting. It didn't work very well unless I prefocused, but it was working.

So, by design, there's not supposed to be any AF function for the 135, just the convenience of auto IBIS and EXIF data?

The adapter has a reach of 4.5 mm. Sometimes you need to pre-focus manually your lens so that AF is within reach.

The prefocus thing make sense. This would even be a nice device if that's all it was designed for - as long as it functions consistently.

So, is there a recommended "fix" when the adapter stops working (no AF)? I tried removing/reinserting the battery, and the adapter, but it didn't seem to matter.

It seemed to take a few minutes to be able to get the functionality back, unless there was some specific action I performed.

Yes, currently the f/32 aperture parks the adapter in MF instead of AF. (That's the only aperture that does that)
I explain to them that some shooters may have compact 135 lenses and that may not be the best option.
