Hey I just want to add to this thread to always check the screws at the rear of the TAP. The screws in mine almost fell out and was causing major wobble while mounted on my camera and I had to exert force to remove the adapter (no damage thankfully). I was at the used camera show when it started loosening and luckily one of the dealers lent me his screwdriver so I could tighten it!

Ditto for the screws on the front!
I wonder if there is a reason there's no Loktite or similar used? I was tempted to use some, but instead just keep an eye on the screws. As soon as I experience wobbles, I tighten...

Are you guys referring to the screws that hold the mount in the rear going onto the camera body? Jonathan mentioned at the rear, while David on the front. There are no screws on the front... Luckily, mine doesn't show any wobble.

Me three, happened a couple times now. I even tried to get deeper screws at the hardware stuff but no luck.

Let's just be clear though. Loose screws also cause wobble but this is not the wobble many of us are referring as an adapter design issue.

Indeed. Didnt mean to give that impression. The screw issue can be fixed, the other not so much.

Apologies you are quite right! It's the rear mount, I just checked, so we are all talking about the same d$&@n screws....

Just for fun, I calculated the usefulness of telephoto lenses with this adapter. There is still great glass around that can't focus by itself, you know.

Here we have the MFD in cm (centimeters) for 90-600mm lenses. I used cm mostly because that is what techart posted with originally. The relationship is not linear or an easy curve (due to the rounding inherent with techarts brief table) but with some wiggling, I think my math gets within a meter at most for the 600mm.
(this is assuming the lens is set to infinity btw)

90mm - 184.146
100mm - 227.966
200mm - 930.166
300mm - 2112.366
400mm - 3774.566
500mm - 5916.766
600mm - 8538.966

So, if I only shoot the Voigtlander 35/1.2 II and never remove it from the TechArt, I am still going to get eventually get the wobble? Hmph!

I've added an entry at the beginning of the FAQ describing (and distinguishing between) the wobble caused by loose screws and the wobble caused by an inherent design flaw.

Wobble? What Wobble? I use the Voight 35/1.2 II and TAP on the A7r2. No wobbles. Am I doing something wrong ?

I don't have it either, but in the FAQ it seems as though everyone is getting it who uses it often with many lenses because of a design flaw. Maybe we'll be lucky . . . or maybe our time will come, too.

For those who are not noticing any tilt/wobble. Do a simple test: Have the adapter extended closer than infinity with your lens attached and press the top area of the adapter extension. See if it goes inwards (even if just a tad). If it does, you have the wobble. If it does not, consider yourself lucky.

Just tested mine and it definitely has the wobbles! It certainly looks like a flawed design. There is no support as it extends out it wobbles more and more. Hopefully they come out with a better design in version 2.

Maybe because of the weight of the Voigt 35 F1.2 II lens I don't see the tilt/wobble you describe.

My TAP is tight, the wobble is the screws in the rear of the mount becoming loose.

I am about to leave for Italy for two weeks, will be traveling light with an A7RII, TAP, ZM 35 1.4, Loxia 21 and maybe a 50 Summicron-M.

Because I expect to be shooting constantly, I may bring an FE 35 2.8 to back me up in the event that 1) I have a TAP failure or 2) I find myself shooting less reflexively because of TAP quirks.

I get the sense that when I return and look at my images and reflect on the experience, I'll know whether or not my A7RII is my landscape camera and a XT-2 is my travel/street camera. I have been eyeing the silver graphite ones, and they look pretty lovely.

We'll see.

Has anyone tried backing the screws out and using Locktite or equivalent? I'm not a TAP owner yet, but these two separate wobble issues have me concerned about buying before a new design comes out. It would be nice to know if at least one of them could be remedied by the user...

Thanks,
-Kelly

Using Loctite to secure the screws was breifly discussed earlier in this thread but, as far as I'm aware, no one has reported success with this potential fix.
