It happens every once in a while. These are the difficult bugs to track down, since it's difficult to repeat them. Part of reverse engineering...a challenging task...

After 4+ months of use, it's not a biggie for me.

Me too. Hoping for a firmware update soon to stabilize this. This is just not perfect yet and hopefully they are working on improvements but this really changed the landscape for us Sony users . I shot a reception with it and it struggled but I knew it would. I did it because I was not asked to shoot it anyway but I did since I wanted to try . I did okay with it but certainly not as good as my GM 24-70 could do which did not miss a beat on what I was supposed to shoot. I don't expect miracles in low light but stability would be nice. I have to be careful with it as when it counts I really should not use it yet. But that's me and I'm having fun with it and I expect it will get better too. That's not complaining either, it's what I expect for right now.

At least with my Contax 100-300mm. I am finding that tack on focus is much harder to achieve when the aperture is higher. At F11-- can get fantastic across the frame sharp-- contrasty.. beautiful shots but many of them are just a fraction off focus.

Also if I switch to MF -- I cannot use focus magnification... Is there any work around for that.

Focus peaking and magnification will work with the adapter in manual focus mode, not sure what you'll need to change on your camera to enable them.

Hmm I will have to go through and figure out. Also in terms of the aperture and focus accuracy. I wonder if in part it has to do the position of the adapter and lens. I generally prefocus with a zoom and the focus is dependent on the Z direction of the adapter and the focus ring. I am not sure how moving things in the Z direction versus focus ring will affect focusing at non-infinity situations.

Update--- I accidentally changed my C2 button that I use for magnification when changing other custom buttons to better adapt to the use of this adapter

To re-enable focus peaking and manual focus I use the AF/MF toggle button and switch and button on the back of the camera. Works perfectly and I don't have to mess with f/90. The Techart adapter resets itself to infinity when MF is actuated on the cameral. Pretty sweet.

F90 is used to update firmware; do you mean F32? Yes, I agree, MF mode should be used via the AF/MF Ctrl Toggle assigned to a button, rather than the F/stop-fire-a-frame hoop-jumping.

It will reset to infinity when switching to MF if F36 is set, or to close focus (set F40), or stay in the same focus position (set F45.)

I use F45.

Yeah, I guess I meant f32. I knew it was one of those at the upper end!

Tammons, did switching it out of the battery drain mode (firmware update) also help your focus error percentages? They don't inspire confidence. I'm interested if this is a lens issue (low contrast?), camera issue (A7II rather than A7RII) or something else. Is anyone else seeing this?

I am not sure it was stuck in BT mode now.

Have not checked AF hit rates.

IMO its the adapter, that causes low AF AF-S hit rates, btu AF-C works pretty well. Just needs a finer AF jump when in the zone similar to the MB4.

Camera Gets hot(warm) (A7RII) bottom left side when in AF-C mode using Techart Pro.
I am not getting good focus with AF-S with adapted Nikon AIS lenses and Voigtlander 15mm so am using AF-C and get very good results. However after only about 10 shots, the camera left/bottom side is getting very warm.
Anyone know what may cause this?

Hopefully Techart reads the comments here.

Some good feedback for the engineers.

How about updating your camera?
Latest A7r2 firmware version 3.3.

I just got a note from Adorama. They started selling it today!

Techart PRO Leica M to Sony E Autofocus Adapter ($349)

Unfortunately, it's no longer available at B&H Photo.

The WATE as a macro..

I used my WATE at 21mm and with the adapter could get inches from this flower. I used my close up adapter prior but with manual focus much more difficult. Anyway here is a shot where I was inches away. Full frame and resized, and full 100% crop of center. I think this was F8 could have been F11. I opened in CS6 and did small curves and a slight clarity and vibrance but no sharpening.

And this is a wide open shot using a 50mm Summilux ASPH, cropped for better composition. This was my first attempt and it was handheld. Later on I wanted to put the camera on the tripod but I couldn't since the adapter is in the way for my clamp . Oh, well. Vertical shots are OK using an L-bracket.

I had to use portrait mode for the L clamp.. So what is the work around the adapter getting in the way of the L plate?

I would say, install/use another plate under the horizontal side of the L-bracket. Kind of stupid but what else can we do .

I used my Dremel to grind some things down. For the horizontal I posted in this thread that I used rubber pads to give the plate space to attach the arca Swiss plate.
