Guy I found the same as you are reporting. I had done what you did because initially I was confused on what to set but nonetheless no way to work around.

I got a K&F Nikon to M adapter and tried the Techart with my Voigt 180mm. Need to do a pre focus (which is pretty easy and fast with a tele) but then the adapter nails focus quickly.

The WATE seems to work well and I will do some testing today and post some images.

Is it possible that other BT signals are affecting whether the adapter is BT off or on. For example if you have your cell phone BT on for another device could it be activating the adapter. This could explain the variation in results some are seeing?

And something to remember. I never would have thought that it was stuck on BT.
Could have come from the factory that way.

Thanks. Can you reach infinity with the K&F Nikon to M and TechArt adapter? TIA.

Indeed the WATE works very well.
My understanding is that it is one of the very few internal focusing Leica M lenses.
Leaving the WATE at infinity focus the TechArt adapter seems to handle just fine.

Since BT requires pairing I find this doubtful.

My phone only 'sees' the LM-EA7 adapter when the firmware update is in progress; it doesn't see it after the F90/frame firing; only after the app connects and the firmware is updating. When update is complete, it disconnects and is no longer seen in the BT screen on the phone, so at least on my adapter BT is disabled after the update.

So far I shot an object about 100 feet away and it focused perfectly

I guess this makes sense but if it is trying to connect intermittently (unsuccessfully) wondering if this might be a source of drain.. but unlikely

Mine, before the update, (and it already had 3.0 installed,) would dump about 10-15% of the battery at night.

Make sense to me that the BT was stuck in the on position in my adapter when I got it, especially since you update the adapater FW with the camera off.

I would bet turning the camera on too soon after the FW update will cause it to get stuck in BT mode.
The instructions say to wait a minute. I waited 5.

I will email somebody in HK that is in the know. Maybe he will know what causes it to get stuck in BT mode.

I loved my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 Mark II a lot and I did hang on to it until just recently. Sharp as the lens was but starting at 180mm or so I started seeing physical darker "bars" that I assume coming from the lens internal baffles. I didn't see that on my Canon bodies. I could imagine that as the light path increases (added by the adapter), the internal baffles seemed to obstruct the side edges of the light path and that at any aperture, too.

My question is since we are increasing the light path by quite a bit by adding the Techart PLUS the additional adapter, let's say a Contax to Leica-M, has some of you started noticing obstruction issues when combined with a long lens, lets say 135mm or longer? Thanks!

I have used mine with an Adaptall 80-200mm F2.8 and a 60-300mm macro and had no issues other than its a bit slow..

The light path isn't any longer than what the lens would experience on its native camera mount. But the adapter internal diameter(s) may be narrower.

Therefore I think it could be possible. Isn't the Canon EF mount larger in diameter than Sony FE? And the early Metabones adapter had to be changed when Sony transitioned from APS-C to include FF sensors. With the TechART, you're putting a narrower diameter M mount adapter between the camera and lens... I shoot a Leica 180/3.4 R mount lens on my M240 and I see vignetting in the corners of the frame, even stopped down... I've read it's due to the adapter and M-mount diameter...

I would guess a lens with a long exit pupil distance could be more susceptible to adapter/mount related physical vignetting since the light is seemingly coming from deeper inside the lens than one where the exit pupil is much closer to the lens mount. Therefore a wider 'tube' is needed to avoid vignetting.

In this LensRentals post you can compare some exit pupil distances. While the Canon zoom isn't listed there, the Nikon equivalent is and you'll note the quite long ~150mm distance. Similar with the Zeiss 70-200/T2.9 cine lens. Then look at some of the pre-digital tele lenses with much shorter exit pupil distances...

Is it me or is this no longer listed on B&H? Link doesn't work for me, and my searches come up empty.

Two shots from the WATE 21mm f5.6
One infinity and one much closer. resized but not cropped. Edges look great. !!! This is a game changer for me. I almost sold this lens and Fred's comments made me reconsider and now that I can do AF--- it is a keeper.
