Basically, yes.
What's the configuration that provides no Exif data, but also provides AF.
That's what I was trying to ask about in prior posts.

I have my c/y to Leica m adapter to arrive on Monday. So glad to hear how well the Techart works with this lens. Looking forward to trying it with the c/y 00/3.5 as well.

I use it on f/25. (50mm). It seems to be a good compromise setting for IBIS throughout the entire range.

No need to set anything to achieve this.

Manual IBIS focal length of 50mm on the 35-70 seems like it would be a good compromise

I have something similar, namely a Leica R 35-70 f/4 lens.

A good F setting would be 35mm.
I can live with having only one focal length entered into the Exif.

If you leave SteadyShot on ON and on Auto, IBIS will not overcorrect.
But for 50 and 70mm it will under-correct a bit.

To avoid that, I set SteadyShot Adjust. to Manual.
Then on my A7r2 I can use the C3 Button to select the correct focal length without going into the menu.
Also I can use the Down Button to switch SteadyShot ON or OFF.

As d-intrigue pointed out 50mm would be a goof compromise.

However, for say a Leica R 28-90/2.8-4.5 lens it's better to have IBIS use the actual focal length.
In my experience under-correcting IBIS a lot sort of turns it off.
Over-correcting a lot can lead to pretty erratic behavior.

K-H.

Thanks for the replies.

So, if you use SS adjust on manual, there's no need to be concerned about the techart setting?

I was also wondering if the prior F setting, say from the last lens used, remained in memory until it was changed.

There is no requirement to set anything via the f/stop method, unless:

- focal length is desired to be stored in exif
- there is focus position preference when switching between auto and manual
- to change the firmware revision

So is the f-stop setting simply for writin focal length into EXIF? Like I stated earlier, I use Lens Tagger to do this and I can be more specific about the lens make, focal length, etc., but if there's something more to. Setting the aperture on the Techart, I'd like to know.

I don't need focal length in exif, so when I change lenses I simply press C4 and choose the focal length for steady shot.

If you DO want focal length in exif, attach the lens and then dial in the appropriate f/stop and fire the shutter. Steady shot can be in auto mode in this case, so the steady shot focal length won't need to be chosen separately.

I also use LensTagger and although it's awesome, it's nice to have the focal length already tagged in all images using the adapter aperture settings. On top of that, you get auto IBIS.
Sure you can always set IBIS manually and use LensTagger, it's just a little more work.

Also make sure to turn lens corrections off in the menu when using the TAP

Does that matter, particularly if you shoot raw?

Also, I'm seeing a significant battery drain. Put in a fully charged Sony battery early this afternoon, and 10-12 hrs later it's at 91%.

Hopefully a FW update fixes it.

Anyone have to return theirs due to a battery drain issue?

I am planning to do some tests re: battery drain after seeing some of the posts here but haven't had time.

The adapter will definitely draw power when the camera is off as that is how the firmware update process works. Perhaps bluetooth is somehow still powered in some circumstances?

At least your battery drain isn't as severe as mines. If I leave mines on overnight with a full battery, I'd be at 20% in the morning.
I'm not sure what it is.
It's really an inconvenience when I use this adapter strictly 90% of the time.

I tested this with a fresh battery and after 9 hours, the percentage was as still 100%. Perhaps there is some variation?

Put in a newly charged battery at 10:47pm, read 100%.

At 6:45am, it's still at 100%.

Will try some firmware updating tests later today to see if somehow bluetooth remains enabled in some situations.

I also have similar battery results. Little to no draw . . .
