This weekend was mostly about rain, daytime darkness, and repeated lightening strikes within 50 yards of my car.
However, I had a couple hours to capture some images during the calm. The storms did drive away all the mosquitoes which was a big plus. This female bear has a mixture of brown and black I have not noticed before.
Alligator River Preserve in NC gets it's name for the northern most reach of the alligator.

Well done David. It's tough shooting under those conditions, but you pulled it off. As you know, I've been there many times, but have never seen a gator there... I see turkeys there almost every time I go, but have never had one close enough to shoot ~ Ron

Thanks Ron. Sorry we couldn't catch up last weekend. Probably for the best. I'd hate to see you possibly struck by lightening trying to get 'the perfect shot'.

There are a few small produce stands along the way. Peaches are excellent right now.

Great set, David! Bad weather can sometimes be a great time to shoot, so kudos to you for sticking it out (and not getting electrocuted)! That is an amazing looking cloud formation! Compared to other bears I've seen there recently, this sow and her cubs look like they could use a few more pounds. Things still looking quite green, so they should be able to find plenty of food. Nice shots of the turkey and gator as well. Funny how they're harder to come by than the bears!

Oh, and in addition to the peaches, Powell's has a homemade pecan pie to die for!
