His model is very close to the center but this lens is very sharp at f/1.4.

Thank you Chris. These are great examples. I really like the difference of f/1.4 to 5.6 on the back ground in the portrait shots.

gotta say...this lens looks pretty nice for its intended use! @f2 this thing puts the Loxia to shame(@f2)... These examples look pretty damn nice to my eyes, and I'll be looking forward to mine coming in. Not that I'll even be able to get close to Mark's examples above

But I'll try my damnedest though!!
Bokeh looks really nice, IMO, too.

Not sure about all this talk on the other thread that this lens is just "a bit" different than the 55/1.8, the background OOF is so completely better / smoother with the new guy. Those shots from Mark G. are gorgeous.

Exactly what I was thinking, the softness and pastel look of the graffiti would never have turned out like that with the 55/1.8

Can't wait to see your shots.

Possibly, but not sure about this, at least not so much as to use the word "never". In my opinion this would need a side by side comparison. The examples shown by the Korean website show the 55 to be not bad, too. Nevertheless, I don't see a big difference to the Sigma Art so far in real world sharpness and rendering. But here, too, a side by side comparison will shed light on this.

There's a review on the Chinese version of Engadget, with lots of sample pics. Would love to know what the conclusion is, if anyone can read it, given that Google translate doesn't do a very good job!

It's looks to render very smoothly like the GM 85. Really like the falloff and transition areas. Pretty decent samples

I don't know guys, but those images look flat to me. Sure, they are sharp, but there is very little 3D effect to the portraits. Perhaps this is due to the lighting or the PPing, but I would reserve judgement on the FE 50/1.4 until more samples are available.

In hand raining hard but it's big and heavy and it's gorgeous . Stop reading if you don't want big and heavy. It's sharp as a tack though i mean sharp but it's exactly what I thought it was. It's on display at B&H too shot with it and my camera in store. Just really nice. I have my copy with me looks really good on center but need more testing. I'm hoping the rain stops soon. I'm outside looking for cover. Lol
