Dave-I agree with you and started that way. In landscape mode I ended up with a two shot pano that I really like, but, in fairness, also too close to Kee's great shot. I went to portrait mode and started with the bridge above the top of the frame. But what is below the circular pattern gets to be an eyesore. I then zoomed in to crop the bottom out and found the transition from the upper to lower pool another eyesore. Finally I angled up to include the bridge and zoomed out to what you see to minimize the impact of that ugly transition area.
I have maybe 15 shots of this area but then ran out of clouds and the sunlight took over. Hopefully I get back this fall. Different flow conditions, fall color and great light may yield a different composition. And just maybe I will have time to try different shutter speeds so that I can argue with Jim Fox about "best" shutter speed.
