Yes - I have a catalogue of FM spots as well. Nice pic. I think it would be a stronger comp if you would crop out the bridge. Dave

Dave-I agree with you and started that way. In landscape mode I ended up with a two shot pano that I really like, but, in fairness, also too close to Kee's great shot. I went to portrait mode and started with the bridge above the top of the frame. But what is below the circular pattern gets to be an eyesore. I then zoomed in to crop the bottom out and found the transition from the upper to lower pool another eyesore. Finally I angled up to include the bridge and zoomed out to what you see to minimize the impact of that ugly transition area.

I have maybe 15 shots of this area but then ran out of clouds and the sunlight took over. Hopefully I get back this fall. Different flow conditions, fall color and great light may yield a different composition. And just maybe I will have time to try different shutter speeds so that I can argue with Jim Fox about "best" shutter speed.

Thanks for the comment

Hey Tim,

Very nice work here. I like that swirl in the foreground.

It will be interesting to see your experiment with shutter speeds. Bear in mind that with water swirls, those are exceptions to the normal sweet spot for water, typically they require 1 sec to 5 secs depending on the amount of bubbles in the water and the speed of the water.

Very nice as is, but I agree with dbehrens that it would be stronger cropping out the bridge, but I'm a nature boy and prefer just seeing that without human artifacts.
