Data from the Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere satellite suggests that noctilucent clouds require water vapour, dust, and very cold temperatures to form.[6] The sources of both the dust and the water vapour in the upper atmosphere are not known with certainty. The dust is believed to come from micrometeors, although particulates from volcanoes and dust from the troposphere are also possibilities.

Hey Matti,

That is pretty cool, those clouds really make the shot. The pond is a great foreground choice.

Thanks! Those clouds are a nice perk for us living here relativity close to the polar circle.

Oh, and that's a river btw

That's a really nice subtle 'less is more' sky feature. Dave

I really like the image. The clouds are super cool. You don't get that every day. I would have like to have seen a perspective that gives the pond more prominence in the picture personally. I think it would balance the shot out more. Maybe you could have gotten a reflection off the water too? Hard to tell not being there in the moment though
