Nice capture Birdie! I have seen them snatch bugs in the air but I have never seen it photographed.

I once saw a hummer dirt bathe its wings on the ground but I have never seen this behavior photographed, on video, or even mentioned in literature. Sometimes you can get really lucky and capture something pretty rare or unknown to even the experts in the field.

We have 4 feeders and I am still hoping to spot an albino hummer someday.

Birdie, your hummer is almost as bad as the burrowing owls down here . You captured the behavior really well; those are sweet images!

Very cool photos and a good lesson in natural history. I never knew that hummingbirds were omnivorous! You got the proof!
