I've been wanting to go to Iceland for more than 15 years and I finally had a chance to go. It was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life. The weather didn't really corporate. It was cold, rainy and windy, but we did the best we could. I did most of the things I wanted, but my biggest disappointment was Glacier Bay. For whatever reason, the chunks of ice weren't on the beach like normal. Not sure if it was the tide, weather or just bad luck, but they weren't there.
The lessons I learned from my first real photo trip in a foreign country?
1. Plan, plan and plan. I didn't do a good job with this.
2. If possible, go with other photographers. You won't feel as rushed and they will understand why you want to go out in the middle of the night or whatever.
3. Always pack backups. I lost my tripod mount and broke my filter holder. Thank God for Gaffers tape!
4. Put the camera down every so often and just enjoy the experience!
Here are some of the photos. Please let me know what you think.
