Last weekend mom was still on her nest. Today the nest was empty except for some shell fragments. I went off in search of the hatchlings and finally located them all by themselves in a small bay. Ten minutes later the parents showed up. Here are a few from my encounter shot from my kayak....

Beauties Geoff. There appears to be an overwhelming green or gree. cast in the last two.

The green water and resulting green cast reflections are typical of glacier-fed lakes.

Thanks Tony, not sure what feeds these small lakes but they are often very turquoise in colour. They are very shallow also which contributes I think.

Thanks Mitesh. Nikon was good for Saturday....Sunday's outing was all Canon....will post soon....

Thanks for the comments everyone.

To address the blue cast. I know in #4 that the cast was only on the underwing and the front breast seemed to be holding the whites properly so I left the blue. It is reflection from the turquoise water. Probably the same thing in #5 though I didn't notice the cast in that one. I will play around with the WB a bit more on those.

Mike, your comment got me thinking that it may have been the previous Wed that I checked the nest and not last Sat. I will have to check on that. However, I'm sure they are no older than 1.5 weeks.
