Orangutan - Borneo, Indonesia

A mother Orangutan holds it's baby close in the rainforest of Borneo. This is one of my three images that made it to this year's final judging round of the prestigious Natural History Museum's "Wildlife Photographer" of the year contest.

I see you captured this at 20mm which is obviously quite close, was this taken from a vehicle?

Congrats indeed on a fine shot and getting to the finals. Last year there were over 9000 images in the mammal category and of those they would pick 30-50 images for the final; less in some of the categories. So you did well. And if you ever get an image into the final exhibition make sure you go to the ceremony in London.
