Every once in a while a bloom on the Rose of Sharon will catch my eye and I will try to get a decent shot. That's the first shot. Second shot is a day lily that I bred some years ago. I have always liked how it turned out, but I seldom shoot it. Anyway, it was late morning and the sun was too high so I tried to make myself bigger so the the bloom and the bg would be shaded by my body. I just barely managed to cover the flower, and the odd looking shadow in the bg is me.

? You are a resourceful guy, Ron. These are both nice. Honestly, I think your shadow overshadowed your lily but it does help to bring out the beautiful color you helped create. I urge you to get its portrait again in better light.

Thanx Kirk. There are two tricks to getting shots like this. First, look for the shot often. Second, get the camera when you see what you want.

#1 is lovely Ron. Good idea to shade #2. A big white umbrella would be your friend in such light. Cheers!

Thanx Ken. I have an 18" white reflector/diffuser, but it's hard to hold that and shoot too.

#1 is wonderful with all the detail and soft light.
#2 is a great flower, but as you said the light was kinda tough.

Love the soft light and BG in 1 Ron. And the detail is exquisite.

And congrats on breeding number 2. Who said there can be no Father Nature?? What name did give to the lily?
