This is a great set Kirk. They are all nice and sharp and well exposed. Congrats on the LB too - they are difficult to see much less shoot ~ Ron
Thanks so much Ron. I'm absolutely thrilled with the D500, added benefit is that it raised the performance level of my old 500 f/4 D to a much higher keeper rate. Nikon really produced a winner.

Congratulations Kirk, in your very capable hands you make it shine ! Wonderful set . I knew you would love the autofocus , it is so amazing. Almost like it knows what you want it to focus on
Love all the shots, but the mallard speaks to me with the pose and background.
Birdie
Thanks so much Birdie, so glad you especially enjoyed the Mallard. Yes the AF is excellent. I used D-9 almost always on the D810 for BIF, on the D500 the Group Mode has quickly become my default for BIF as I find it more consistent.
The D500 has made my culling take twice as long. With the 7D2 it was so easy to just go through and reject all the OOF crap. The D500 just gets so many in focus that I have to concentrate more on the subtleties of each shot to pick my keeper. I'm trying to fire less with the D500 as it is so consistent.

Thanks so much Geoff. I found out what you're talking about as I was going through the 1300+ images from this session... so many sharp images means really looking for the subtle differences that separate the excellent from the very good. I love this camera.

This is a marvelous set Kirk. The skimming photo is my top pick and there all great. I have a friend with a D500 and while I have tried it I don't dare attach it to my Sigma 150-600 Sport as I'm already experiencing super focus and tracking and the combination will not want to come out of my hands. Actually, I think I'm going to get one as a retirement gift next June.
Morris
Really appreciate the wonderful words Morris, thank you.
If you've tried it, then you already know how good it is, and so much fun to shoot BIF. I hope you do treat yourself to one as a retirement gift.
