Thanks, Steve. As you know, the key is catching that peak moment when their movement stops for just a second (or at least 1/250 of a sec). Amitava Sartar, who shoots the Houston Ballet, insisted to me that he shot performances at 1/125 sec. Still not sure I believe him as the lighting for Houston Ballet is so gorgeous and so generous for photographers (I was shooting at 1/400 and 1600 ISO back then).
I shot these in and around 1/250, ISO 2500 and wide open. It would vary depending on where they were on the stage but fortunately the Harris Theater has halfway decent lighting. I've still never seen lighting like I always saw with the Houston Ballet. Totally miss that.
