Two captures from the same famous vantage point on the same day. First one is during the sunset and the second one is during the sunrise.

Comments and critiques are welcome

Roy,

I do like these scenes but the color doesn't look right to me. Seems a bit too intense, especially in the 1st one. Since I'm viewing at work, might be monitor.

In the 2nd image, I wish there was a bit more room above El Capitan, feels crowded.
Also the sky has what looks like a "banding' line .

I do love the low fog and the path it takes. Was this the same time you shot the Bridelveil image?

Thanks for posting
Dan

Dan,

Yes it was the same morning.
I saw the banding too and I have no idea why it came and how to remove that. Any suggestions on how to cut that out will be appreciated.

Regards
Roy

Roy,

I'm guessing this is from a two-layer blend. I think sometimes if the contrast between the two in the area affected is too great, this can occur. Was this from a bracketed shot or just double processing same file? In either case, maybe try using more layers with less difference between each..

Also, here is a link on another method that uses noise. I haven't tried this.

Hi Roy,

You are pushing the colors too much, as DAN mentioned the colors are not right, specifically your yellows don't look real in either shot. #1 is the better composition. While there is a sliver of sky above El Cap in #2 compared to the original you posted the other day, it's still not enough. As for banding in the sky, are you editing in 8 bit or 16 bit?

Jim

Nice images, but as mentioned, the colors appear extremely saturated to my eye. I would love to see #2 as a B&W. Great fog in the trees.

I see the phenom of the few seconds of green band that can happen at sunrise when you get lucky. I have seen this but never have captured. It happens so fast most never see it.

Then may be that is the case here because though this is a blend, every shot appear to have captured something like a rainbow at the sky. I thought these may be a chromatic abrasion or flare issue

I would love to see these with the saturation backed down. You've cranked it up so high that the sky is falling apart in the second photo, and the first has the clouds going unnaturally yellow. I think you'll find that a more natural color gives better results.

great imges. just as they are, spically nr one. If y o u want to do some thing.just brighten the follage and bring out the colors more to reflect the clouds.
