This male rose breasted grosbeck visited us yesterday and I was lucky enough to get some clear shots. He was feeding on the safflower in one of our feeders. We have had them around this time in years past, but last year we had none. I have not seen his mate. The pictures are through glass and the shutter speed was not that high. The light was soft so it was not hard to get good highlight and shadow detail.

Thanks for your kind comments. I was ready for him when he showed up because I was waiting for the female pileated I have been watching to show. Today I got pictures of her. I will share them soon.--Paul
