Couple more but I'm nuts to think of selling this copy. I don't need to crop to 17mm now maybe at infinity but again normal landscape you got sky on top and anything on the bottom is like 6 ft away. Sure your going to run into those moment shots where it maybe really important. Take a step back problem solved cut it off

You folks blew it I had this for sale cheap. Now looking at this I'm not so generous. This is a great copy. I would not mind the new version and this one I removed the petals . Not sure I will sell it but you never know.

This is the M mount version III

What I also like with the M 15III and using the Voigtlander adapter is that I can super close focus.

Looking at these I'm pretty much blowing the 18 off the radar. Unless it kills the L 21 which it won't , it will be good no question but I fear it will not have the look of this VC or the Loxia 21. I think it's going to be a little clinical which is not a bad thing but these VC 15 are a bargain. How is there 28 one wonders

Which I don't have on all these shots and I'm pretty close to some of it for sure.

Looks great Guy. Tomorrow I will take some shots at closer distances. Your test at "Big Bronco" shows amazing performance towards the edges. I've never seeing these results with the copies I tried (3 so far). Corners always look heavy in astigmatism and low contrast no matter how I focus the lens...At closer distances or infinity...Perhaps I only tried bad ones so far...Enigma.
I thought this lens had good QC.

It maybe just a better mid zone, don't know never tested infinity on it. Look forward to your test Fred maybe it will reveal something we are not seeing yet. I'm just thinking it has to have some advantages outside the functional and operational areas. Having the Exif , no adapter, ibis are all great things and worth buyingfor the E mount alone . Plus corrections if we get profiles in LR and C1 that can be a big deal as well. Some of those shots I actually vignettes more the cars especially. The building no they where part of a test.

Could it be that the second corner crop labeled f8 is actually f11, and the one labeled f11 is actually f16?

I never shoot f16 and rarely f11 when I test like that. I was doing this on my iPad so I put f8 up twice. I usually also never use the forums software to upload but copy from my site and paste

Interesting I did F16 but they are directly posted here I did not relabel them . Took from the gallery but that's my test so folks can read that if they want. Thanks I must have wanted to see the diffraction . Not my normal process but hey who said I was normal. Lol

FYI: I wrote previously that the new E-mount version has its focusing ring much closer to the mount. On the A7RII, this is actually not ideal ergonomics. It's now awkward to turn the focusing ring due to the A7RII's grip deeper grip. My left finger does not have enough clearance to fully turn. (It keeps rubbing against the right fingers on the grip)

It's doable but it takes getting used to. The M-mount is better in this regard.

That's a bummer. It's a small lens to begin with, which only has so much space.

Thanks for sharing your tests anyway. Those not so far away corners in your test look clearly better than Fred's results at infinity. So the corner weakness Fred has found may be limited to far distances.

That very well maybe the case. It maybe more a mid range lens . The wall test is impressive. My guess I'm about 30feet away.

Im trying to find the bloody raws and i can't find them its driving me nuts and this house is a freaking nightmare with my sons friends. Go graduate already get out of here. High school

Im just going to go shoot the damn thing again. Im just a little short on showing a extreme corner.

Update:
Guy just sent me some samples showing much better extreme corner performance. I have two CV 15/4.5III lenses here (M-mount and E-mount) and they perform similarly (I can't tell apart). However, it's still possible there are better copies out there.

Next week, he will ship his lens to me (Thanks bud!) so I can compare it side-by-side with mine. I will update the thread with the results.

I can clearly see astigmatism and low contrast towards the edges with my copies. It seems excessive and Guy's examples do not show that at all.

Yea sending Choppy over for Fred to try it side by side with the others. Choppy is a special VC 15III has he had his petals ( hood) cut off by some very rude photographer.

I did several tests this morning with it for Fred and we decided best to have Fred test it against the copies he has. So hopefully he will have some updates later in the week.
