Here's a review of the 1DX Mark II complete with lots of full-size images including RAW files and links to video tests. (Finally something to look at!)

https://www.ephotozine.com/article/canon-eos-1d-x-mark-ii-review-28791

Below I did a quick test of RAW ISO25,600 comparison between their color chart of the 1DX and the 1DX Mark II. (I had to search through their website to find the review of the 1DX.) The 1DX is on the left, the 1DX Mark II is on the right. I reduced color noise on both and adjusted white balance just a tad...all else is left straight out of the camera.

looks good! i've already seen the kelby review and the shadow details on faces in a helmet look quite good. really glad to see a couple low iso model shots here. unlike nikon, looks like they didn't sacrifice the camera to the night

I viewed the D5 vs 1DX vs 1DXII RAWs in LR at 25600 and 51200.

I'd say the D5 wins for lack of visible noise and the 1DX and 1DXII are virtually identical. However, details in the markings and lettering favours the Canons over the D5. This was with Chroma NR turned on in LR. Without chroma NR, the D5 wins by a long shot showing very little chroma noise compared to the Canons.

The dx ll samples looked to be hand held at low ss which would introduce movement into the image samples. Not a good test to give comparison results.

I did some comparison too using the raw's of the test charts. It's how my eyes see it, so take it with a grain of salt

At higher iso's, starting at 12.800, the D5 seems pull away and show finer noise.

Up to 6400 they are pretty equal. With these test charts it's a bit hard to say how low iso dynamic range compares but my impression is that the D5 isn't as bad as we've been told

What's interesting though is that the shutter speeds differs; all D5 shots seem to have been taken at a slightly faster (1/3 stop or so) setting. Canon shots seem a bit sharper.

The ISO 100 DR looks quite promising, but we need a better subject to get a proper feel.

The ISO 12.800 looks pretty darn good, but I need a subject with more fine details to properly gauge how much NR the files needs/can take.

Off to a good start, I would say.

That's too bad. I was really hoping the mk2 would improve on high ISO. The other spec improvements are nice but I don't think they will have any affect on my keeper rate. If Canon had bumped up the resolution more yet kept the same high ISO I might have been tempted. 2MP will mean very little to me for prints and unnoticeable for effective reach. 28MP/12FPS would have given us a FF equivalent 1D4 and truly merged the 1D series. We'll have to wait till 2020 I guess. How the hell did Samsung pull this off in 2014 with the NX1?

Does LR support the 1DX2 already? Wasn't aware.

I've been eyeing the Mk II but so far can't find a good enough reason for the large expense. I would really like the 61 f/8 AF points but other than that the rest of the improvements aren't that important for me. I think I will wait to see what the 5D4 brings to the table as I think it will get the same AF system with all the f/8 points and hopefully some more MPs...the question will be what FPS they decide on.

Looks to me that Canon have produced a huge improvement in base ISO DR, while accepting similar high ISO performance to the 1Dx. It will be interesting to see how malleable the DXII's high ISOs are in processing. Several Nikons in the past have trumped Canon in low ISO DR and produced clearner very high ISOs but with lower DR at high ISO. There seems to be some trade-off here. It does look as if Canon has put to bed the criticism of its poorer low ISO DR. I think most sports shooters may value an extra useable stop of high ISO more than low ISO DR though. Still, looks like an awesome camera.

not all sports are low light, I would argue that most are not. Low ISO DR is important too, and it has been a Canon weakness for yrs. Perhaps in amateur indoor sports, most pro sports have well lit venues. e.g. Olympics, NHL, auto racing etc.

Here are three sample albums posted on Canon HK, click on the tabs to see two in F1, one in sailing, taken by two photographers. Slow website, takes a while to download.
Unfortunately no full size downloads.

Click on Professional Sharing tab on the top. You will see names of the two photographers. The F1 has two blue buttons, one for each album. The gear used is listed at the bottom.

What absolutely is driving me nuts is there are so few raw images to review just one week away from the release. Canon has been played this camera so close to the vest it is stifling.

Evidently ePhotozine has a production camera but only shows color charts in raw. What gives?

It would sure be nice to see a series of raw images at various iso's of portraits and wildlife with nice blurred backgrounds to see how noise levels and resolution play.

I search the net everyday to no avail.

I sent an email to the site asking for RAW files from the real world shooting, not just test charts.

A few from the section Lens Test went online today
