It's a pretty well composed image, but the use of flash/strobe is a bit strong, IMO. The artificially illuminated side of her body is brighter than the side lit by the sun. Personally, I would probably have dialed back the flash/strobe intensity a bit. I notice that the position of the flash/strobe has left a dark shadow under her right eye (between her nose and her cheekbone). In fact, I would think a reflector would have been a better choice so that the color of the light was consistent as it's obvious this was a low angle of the sun as it's very warm, beautiful light but the flash/strobe is much cooler, respectively. Gels would have been an appropriate choice as well. If this was a "shoot" as opposed to just the two of you, then I probably would have tried for 2 reflectors. One where the flash/strobe is and the other used for fill in the shadow area of her face.
I'm also seeing an angular blue line on the bottom left of the image. At first I thought it might be something in the background of the image but it actually crosses in front of the top rail of the fence - so it seems like some sort of artifact.
Personally, I'm a BIG fan of wide open aperture shots, so this works for me, as-is. But I think you could have also created a compelling image by stopping down several stops to capture the scene as well. Either, I think, would be great....Show more →

I feel the same here. The 200mm F2 lens is spectacular, and using it at anything other than F2 feels like a waste. The separation it creates with the person and the background is amazing. In this rare case I feel like there might be something interesting in the view that stopping down might be worth trying.
Either way it's a great shot.

Very nice shot indeed! So you travel coast to coast, and bring along your B1 too?
Interesting catch by Johnathan in regards to the angular blue line on the lower left corner of the image. I am curious as well what that might be...
Yes! I bring my 58mm f/1.4G and 200/2 everywhere I go now Love those two.

I think this is a neat shot! She looks ready to watch the sunset and then go meet some friends for some wine. I agree that the flash is a bit harsh, BUT with her sunglasses, it almost lends a sense of strong dun in her face just before it dips below the horizon.

The yellow light on the right side of her face is a bit distracting. Moving the flash to camera left would have put her nose toward the light, and might (?) have been a better option.
Thank you guys! These type of comments is exactly what I need This is how we all learn. I agree, the B1 was too harsh, I should've dialed in the power down a bit.
The scene was amazing as well but I used a different lens for that. Here's an image taken with a 35mm on the same exact location of me and my wife.
The strobe was too harsh on this one as well
