I used this article as a starting point. Like said previously, try using Safari.

I just read this article and especially the comments.
Here are some examples which 100% confirm my experience:
Any work around if running OS X 10.11 (el Capitan) ? I have tried the USB -> MTP and LUN -> single/multi but nothing works.
The playmomoriescameraapps site just gives me one of the 3 different error messages depending on which USB setting I have applied.
I can't seem to purchase the app straight from the camera either, it just becomes a continuous loop on the 'confirm purchase' menu (click, loads, returns to that screen, repeat, without ever buying the app).
...
Just found this post on the Sony Support Forum which answers the issues with those running MAC OS 10.11 and issues with PlayMemories:
"The Mac OS 10.11 is currently not supported with use with Sony cameras and camcorders"
This was the only suggestion I found to solve this problem:
I found the solution for this issue. Pay Pal and credit card dont work even after we register. What we need to do is buy a Play Station prepaid card for a value of 10$ and add it in the wallet. Once added select the credit card payment method as default then buy the application and the money is taken out from the play station prepaid credit card. I just tried it and it worked for me. Look like sony is only allowing SEN or Play station prepaid card which you can buy from local store
(all quoted from the above mentioned site)
I'm not sure I really want to go to a store and buy a prepaid Play station card just to get my apps on my camera running. Crazy!
If there is no other way I will probably get an external timer for timelapse shooting and forget about all the other apps.
