Hey Michael,

You have some really nice lighting on El Cap and the background. Even though you composed it without cutting off any of those grasses, I think I would crop some off the bottom, maybe to right underneath the grasses on the right side. The light in the background is really cool, but I think the eye gets lost on all of that foreground.

Thanks for your honest opinion. I appreciate.

In this case, I won’t crop the bottom to cut left side grass, the image as title suggested was trying to capture the line and geometry in nature. Any crop will make it after thought and not as intended. Crop the bottom will make fore ground too weak with not much interesting stuff and further distracting the image.

The original one was shot with 14-24 a preferred wider angle of view, (IMO to make image less common central layout) but the sky is weak that day and I don’t have ND for that lens, fast running water will distract morning peaceful feeling. So I swap the lens to 20mm, with 6 stop ND filter. I get the water motion I wanted without make most of the grass blur.

Following the left side grass further with reflection will lead to orange sunrise light on the mountain peak.

That is my intention and may not work with everybody I think.

Hey Michael,

Yep, if you like this composition, and it speaks your vision then dont alter it. Typically crop suggestions are just ideas as we all can have different aspects of a scene speak to us. So i think its good this the view you like and are happy with it.
