Hey FM! Here's a recent modeling shoot that a friend of mine sprung on me; I shot it with one light (that's all I had at the time) but I also enjoy heavy contrast in my work. I'm interested to hear your thoughts, thanks all!

The heavy side lighting enhances the blemishes. And the spot on her shirt keeps grabbing my attention. #1 and #5 with her leaning forward makes her look like very petite, she looks small but these two enhance her small stature. I like the harsh side lighting and contrast you shot with.

Hmm, thanks for pointing out how the light can make blemishes more apparent.

I find myself searching for her a bit in these since you've side-lit her and only slivers of her features are showing... combined with the lack of edge-lighting or anything else to pop her out of the background. None of that's bad exactly, but then the brightly lit surround competes. I think it might be worth burning the surround down some on these (such as the ground), and in the future maybe play with a grid, snoot, or other directional control to keep the light just on her.

I agree with the comments above. For a modeling shoot, I think there's way too much contrast in these. For a modeling shoot, the focus is on the model herself, or the clothes, or the hair - something that's being "sold", economically or figuratively. In these, there's too much detail lost in the deep, deep shadows.

I definitely do need to add a second light to help in separating the subject from the background in cases such as this. Thanks all!
