Good to see this very Canadian event in a photo, Rick. Love the foreground as well as the background. Well done.

I still find your choice of showing the back side of people puzzling. There must have been times when someone skated towards this net.

It's probably a picture of his own child....cause if his kids are anything like mine they instinctively turn their backs to me as soon as I raise my camera...even if I'm a hundred meters away and using a telephoto, the camera comes up and their backs turn. Never fails.

Like it..takes me back to mid 60's when we would skate and play hockey on the pond behind the house. Put my little brother in the goal and gave him a cut down goalie stick, and catchers mitt, Protective pads was a pillow for the chest and rolled up newspapers taped to his sweat for the legs and arm for the blocker. Surprised we didn't kill him as he was only 7-8. He ended up playing Goalie all through high school. Do miss those black ice days.

When I was about seven years old, my father signed me up for minor hockey and I used rolled up copies of the Saturday Evening Post strapped on with Mason jar rings for shin pads.

The other players and their fathers laughed so much and my father was so embarrassed that he took me the next day to the local hardware store and bought me real hockey pads.
