Huntington Beach in Southern California last month, it was an overcast afternoon, but just before sunset the clouds broke up a bit and the sun turned everything a bit of gold. It made for some pretty light, the sunset itself wasn't much but that short time before the sun dipped below the horizon had some pretty cool color.

All comments are welcome, there was no vignetting added to this. The light fall off was natural due to the clouds and the way the light broke through along the horizon.

That's a pretty scene. The extremes of light are controlled very well.
Reminds me of when I was in Florida last year and caught shore birds with the water glowing around them. Fun to witness and capture.

Very nice photo. I would have expected some great color on those clouds shortly after the sun went below the horizon.

Thanks David, it was cool to see the sun pop out like that for a few moments.

Hey Stan,

I am glad you liked this one. It's amazing how fast the clouds closed back up. It's like they opened up for about 5 or 6 mins and then closed up. There was some lighter pastel color on the back clouds that made for a pleasing few shots, but no vibrant colors.

Nice one Jim. I like your timing with the wave and the golden reflection on the water.

Great shot Jim.

And where my brother lives! I'll have to get down there one day. I usually try as hard as possible to avoid So Cal...

Love the composition. Great selection of shutter as it captures the nice texture in the water. Nice sweet light.

Jim: As real as being there -- thanks for the 2 minute transport to the West Coast. And the natural vignetting is sweet -- beats the computer any day. : )

Though Jeffrey is correct, I'd say this picture is less of a noun and more of action phrase, so in the verb form, the proper spelling is two words.

Hey Bart,

I would have to say based on your expert testimony, the verdict is in! It's back to 2 words.

And I am glad you like the shot, thanks!

Nicely captured and processed Jim. There's been some nice local sunsets lately and I'm glad you were able to take advantage. I actually made it out to HB a few weeks ago but I didn't get anything quite as ice.
