I've been off and on at FM over the years and have always been grateful for the experience. Lately, it seems that there are many new members and I commend the marketing team for that.
I posted this shot before and it fits my posting theme today, hope you like it... I hope it isn't pushed to much like some others I've shared.
I value your opinion...

Very nice! I love the telephoto compression.
This may be an iconic location, but I always enjoy seeing the varied interpretations.

Since it's an abstract the slight exaggeration of the colors and the strong highlights don't detract. The composition is great, love all the strong diagonal lines and the softer horizontal bands of color. Nice work.

What I love about the painted hills is that, while it is an iconic location, it doesn't have an iconic composition. Everyone comes away with a unique take.

And yet another . Heron made a great observation - although its an iconic location Painted Hills pics are not another take of an iconic composition.

Hi Zeph,

This is the perfect summary for the name. It really looks like someone took a red paint brush to the hills. Nice!

I like the framing without horizon or reference for size. Saturation and sharpness seem well controlled. I love the exposed geology, laid bare. I've another friend that prefers tele in same location, but have yet to visit. Thanks for sharing a wonderful image. Are there more?

I'm happy you like this, Heron. I've enjoyed zeroing in on scenes with telephoto lenses. Every iconic place is a challenge for me to see what I can do, I know full well what others have done, so i'm usually happy to come away with something the lest bit unique...

Great use of lines. I really like the comp here. Well done with a difficult subject and approach to a photo.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment Lighthawk. In Western Oregon one rarely see's much geology in the form of rocks, not the case in central or eastern Oregon. There is plenty of naked ground to explore. I recommend you add Mitchell/John Day area to your list. Here's one posted last week... https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1415497

Beautiful capture here! I really enjoy your framing choice with the curves in these sedimentary rocks. Processing looks very natural and well done!

Enjoy it while you can. The opening of the Painted Hills Scenic Bikeway and the aggressive marketing of the location (Seven Wonders of Oregon) will soon bring even more people into the area, and over the next five to ten years we can expect the location to turn into yet another overcrowded Smith Rock State Park.

Classic shot. Nice.

I also love that this place has not gotten insanely busy yet due to it being pretty isolated.
