p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Littoral Creek

The combination of rain, high tide, and big swell this winter has caused a lot of usually stagnant creeks to breach into the ocean and begin flowing again. These are often short-lived events, as the movement of water brings sand and silt down to block the mouth again.

Noticing the flow of this creek, I grabbed my camera gear to take this picture:

only to realize that (1) the image I had visualized requires a higher shooting angle and a longer lens, which I'm not sure is a possible combination here, and (2) the better show this day was behind me.

The second rules this series, I like the flow coming from the bottom and passion on out to sea, beautiful horizon.

I like the second image the most. Nicely composed.

#2 and #3 are clearly a viewer's favorite with the stunning colors and cool rock placement. I like #1 as well with the more empty expanse and the slight color in the sky providing a nice boost to the more earthy colors. I think it could be leveled a bit and cropped wide taking out the bottom up to the rock and the right up to the stream. It could use some haze correction to bring out the horizon details. If you care. You got what you wanted with the last two. Good job working the scene!

#3 is my favorite, followed by #2. #1 works the least because it includes houses.

Those temporal flows are cool, and you captured this one really nicely.

Thanks for the feedback. It will be interesting to see what happens with these flows over the next couple weeks, as our coast is forecast to be absolutely blasted by two or three more shots of big swell.

To all the rest of you coast lovers, be incredibly careful on NorCal/Oregon beaches, especially this weekend and next Thursday as an unusually angled, very long-period swell moves in.

The third has perfect light, the second somewhat better composition. Both are reallyl though.
