It was so nice to see all the snow on the mountain this year. I tried many times last year to get these pictures but it just never looked right with no snow or ice. Both from White River. C and C welcome. Thanks for looking. Brian

Work let me sneak out a little early and dash up to get this shot. Evening twilight before the moon rose.

Great pair of images, I like them both. After a few dry years it's been great to get back to normal this year.

Very cool set and right in my backyard (sort of) This is an area that I have yet to explore in the winter time. Might have to head that way soon

Thanks everyone. Its an easy location to get to even in the snowiest conditions. Probably my favorite winter location of Hood.

Brian,
While I love the 2nd one for the winter - postcard feel,
the 1st with its sweet light on the peak is my favorite

Thanks for posting

We've been in the area the last 4 summers but only got to see the snow as it disappears. Love these shots with fresh snow! Great capture, too.

These are fantastic Brian! Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind me asking - is the second one a single exposure or a blend of multiple shots?

#1 is very nice. #2 is insane! Love it!

I might be tempted to turn blue down by 3-5 pts in the upper sky... But that is subjective.

Both of these have so much going for them I can't pick a favourite. Love the fresh snow.

Wow thanks everyone for the super nice comments.

Isaac I don't mind you asking. The second one is a blend of multiple shots. I got there just as it was getting dark and I took a couple of shots of the snow which I focus stacked to get it all in focus. Although it doesn't look it, the snow banks are about 4 feet deep and there was almost no light on the water so I then took a shot of the water where I did just a tiny amount of light painting with my flashlight just to give it a little more detail. Lastly I waited a 15 minutes or so until the stars really were more visible to get the shot of the sky. The light was great that night I think it was a mix of the fading twilight, the soon to be rising moon, some light pollution from Portland and maybe some light from ski bowl night skiing? Thanks again for all the great feed back

Thanks Mark I will try a version with a little less blue. I appreciate the feedback

#2 is like a fairytale poster, and the blue is the reason. I wouldn't touch it.

Second one is crazy good. I almost feel like the bottom could be cropped a little bit to make the top half more prominent. . . however . . . a large print/view probably does the image justice as is.

#2 is awesome.
The sky is a bit hot for a typical landscape but it it still very nice.
Great job.
