I've been busy scanning my favourite film shots from a recent Tasmania trip.
These were shot on 6 x 17cm film format, all on Velvia 50 with the 90mm Schneider lens fitted to my Widepan cam.
Let me know what you think.

Wayne.

Tessellated Pavement

Dove Lake in twilight

Bay of Fires

The town of Stanley, featuring 'The Nut'

Dove Lake, Cradle Mountain and The Boathouse.

Very nice compostions. I really like the first two images. The other three look not very smooth on my screen. Maybe they are slightly oversharpened, but I'm not sure. My first thought was grain, but with Velvia 50 on 6x17 that's extremely unlikely.

Interesting pictures...
These rocks are very "cool"... even those at the Bay of fires.
And I like the "town of Stanley"
Nice....

Nice eye for composition, framing and exposure.

I''ve not used film since I was about 16 and had some Olympus OM-whatever, but these are much more striking that a lot of the digital copycat pablum I've been seeing lately

Well done.

Beautiful results! The first and second are my favorites. I'd tone down the cyan a bit in the wave of the 4th photo. Sometimes velvia goes a bit wild with blue tones in shadow areas, and I can see how the white water of the wave threw it off a bit.

Lovely set

Horizon in #1 looks a bit tilted

Like the comp in 'Bay of Fires'

Someone has already mentioned the colour in the Stanley photo

Thanks for showing what a film camera can do

As somebody who only shoots panoramic on Velvia, on an Xpan, these are beautiful. Scanning Velvia is tough...I usually leave it to a pro if possible!

Thanks Boris, I did spend a lot more time on the first two scans and there will be improvements made to the last three. The problem was in the processing, not film grain.

Thanks Ben. Yes, I've already knocked a bit of cyan out of that wave. You are quite right about Velvia's blue shadows.

Thank you Mark. Scanning Velvia can be a challenge, more art than science.
