I couldn't resist the temptation to shoot this poor tree. How it is still standing and producing fruit is beyond me. It just reminded me of Charlie Brown's Xmas tree. I'm not sure if I would want to eat the fruit

I kept trying to find a way in post to make these images pop, however, there just wasn't much to work with without spending way more time that I had. Thanks for looking

When a plant is stressed it does all it can to make sure that it’s next generation has a chance. This tree knows it’s days are numbered and is doing all it can to produce fruit.
Your image on the other hand needs help as well. I would suggest that you re-visit your subject when the light is better, like early morning or in the evening, a diffused side light does wonders. Maybe zero in on a detail that interest you or and angel that isn’t a portrait, use an f-stop that defuses the background and guides the viewer to what your seeing, think of it as less of a documentary and more of finding it’s soul.
I like the second the best, because the subject is not competing with it's surroundings.
