A few shots of the largest and most reliable Geysir in Iceland...for something with a water temperature above 212•F (>100•C) it is pretty cool!

I have to agree with marcy45, it is a very good sequence of shoots and the richness of the colors works so well for me. Your series of photographs does just what it should, it makes me wish I was there!

Wow, I have never seen a geyser bubble up like that before! What an experience that must have been for you. Excellent photos!

Thanks Marcy...having never been to Yellowstone, this is the first geysir (Iclelandic spelling) I had seen and found the whole erupting sequence fascinating

Many thanks Rob and I was glad I could get the sequence...staying upwind is particularly important as one can easily get burned if you stood facing the wrong direction.

Thanks John, it was, for something so hot, indeed pretty cool There are multiple steam vents around this one all releasing plumes but nothing even close to this one.

Got the same sequence when I was there last year but yours were much better. Especially love the first one, I like the uniform blue bubble of the water. Nice job!

Thanks John, it took a number of sequences and tried to get the timing and focus down...I may have preselected the focus and switched to manual so the autofocus wouldn't jump as the water exploded.

What's the time of this sequence? Is this something that happened in a matter of seconds or minutes? It's really cool.

Thanks so much...it happens in seconds...from bubble to boil to eruption.

Very cool that you caught the bubble.
I've seen geysers go, but obviously could never appreciate this scene.

I spent some time trying to figure it out and was able to time the eruption pretty well...very cool to be sure.

Thanks Matt...it was an amazing sight to see and just needed to make sure we were upwind of the spray and it is pretty easy to get scalded by the boiling water the geysir spews.
The colors in general seemed to very blue throughout Iceland.

Thanks so much...it was really so interesting watching how this evolved...after a few times it was pretty easy to time it and just hope the wind hadn't shifted and forced the steam in our direction.
