p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Sierra Textures

On returning from Death Valley passed through Lone Pine & up into the White Mtns.
Unfortunately the road to the Bristlecone Pines was closed at the gate
We decided to go up anyway & take in the views.
With the recent snows the Easter Sierra was blanketed as well as the Whites.
I liked the Oreo crumbs look on the hills

This is a 3 shot pano, stitched to a 6 x 17 format.
The three shots were taken with an RZ67, w/180mm+TC, on Ektar

Thanks for looking

Nice image, Dan. I sure recognize these views. Be sure to return to the Whites come late spring or summer, it's certainly worth it.

Nice panorama. I recognize the view too, even though I've only been there once.

Great panorama... the textures really are the highlight of this image.

Thank you for sharing.

Hey Dan,

This has a really nice balance, and the change of season gives this view that something extra. It looks like there's a slight magenta cast on the right, and a slight green cast on the left. When do we get to see your DV experience?

Thanks all. It was a nice way to finish out the trip with a casual drive in the Whites.

Tim, What, green AND magenta! Talk about schitzo Film process workflow challenged...
Since it was 3 separate scans I tried to match the output/histograms.
Probably had a little more deviation than desired.
I have two more panos but this one seemed best.

Thanks for asking about DV shots. I'm just finishing up on them. Should I do the icons or flowers 1st

Hey Dan,

A very nice view here, it sure is nice seeing all that snow in the background. I agree with Tim that somewhere you WB wasn't matched up on all 3 images. The point where the magenta starts is pretty obvious, but of course would be harder for you to see.

So which gate was closed? Down low, or the gate that is about a half mile from the Visitor Center?

Jim,
I'm guessing the last 25-30% is where it starts. I'll double check the 3 scans close for cast.

The upper gate was where it was closed. I thought it was more like 2mi or I would have hiked it!

Thanks
Dan

Nice pano Dan, love the stark texture of the nearest ridge. I agree on fixing the different white balances. I'll have to add 6x17 to my repertoire of standard aspect ratios.
