More archive diving here. This one is from June 29, 2009 near my place. This lone pink flower stuck out amongst the sunset colours.

Enjoy!

Hey Scott,

This is cool. The sun is nice, but yeah, the 1 pink flower really makes this work.

Hi Scott,

An excellent example of focal point. Lighting and comp are top notch as always!

Hi Scott,

There is so much here the sun-star, the cloud reflection, and the flower along with the lighting in the whole photo.... you couldn't ask for a better example of going back through some older photo's and finding a gem ...

The pink flower is distracting. Clone it out!! Just kidding!
Great composition with awesome light and reflections, and of course the pink flower must stay.
Take care,
Fred

Scott,
A very nice sunset, but like the others stated, the flower really makes this.
See, that old 40D made some great shot.

You did such a good job of capturing the place and the mood. That is exactly the sort of place I want to find, so I could sit and think for hours and hours. Oh, wait; It doesn't last but a few minutes, but you've now got it permanently. I'd say that is well worth the effort.

In the spirit of Fred Miranda's post - I'd love to get out and take photos like that, myself. The only problem is that I none of my cameras take pictures as good as those. Which one is the best one, guys? I hope there weren't any insects. That would bug me.

this is a great picture as is. But if it was me taking this picture I would have pointed the camera a bit more to the left to get the flower off to the right and the sun more into the picture, not to the center. Well that is just my taste! it is art. You may even have one picture as I described!!!?

Thank you all very much!

I made best of what was available here. Left of the frame is a culvert and right are ugly dead tress.
The light dancing throughout the scene is also important to me. Not just the sunset and the flower. Also, this was also 6½ years ago so who knows.

Very nice eye and capture of the image Scott, even if it is from the archives!

I've been scrounging my archives, but I don't like any of my old stuff...

So often as landscape photographers we find ourselves looking for what to exclude from our images. There are the undesirable elements, like culverts, but when shooting wide, sometimes it’s hard to keep the scene simple and convey the vision you want to capture, other times you can’t get enough.
In this shot, that tiny little flower is competing with the sun...
