The voigt is not ideal for astro just because too slow.
at f4.5 you are one and a half stops slower than F2.8, which mostly doesn't matter with a wide. Except for astro.

But if you are stacking say 32 exposures for astro to reduce noise, f4.5 means you need about 100, which is a living hell. And if you are only stacking 16, it still puts it up near 50 for the same quality.

A7s(2) works with slow lenses but other than that, f/4 and slower are bad. For astro, that is.

Given the tradeoffs you need to make in lens design, this one is much more aimed at daytime/indoor users like myself who need the lack of pincushion/barrel distortions.

Thanks for the review. The coma results are disappointing, especially given the implication behind their introductory image for the lens being an astro shot.

Yes, I believe it's the very same lens I reviewed :-)

Do note their warning about the perils of shooting test targets so closely - I suspect that the figures for distortion will prove to be lower for 'real world' photos.

Stronger resolution results compared to the 11-24L @ 11mm at close distances. Distortion is pretty non-existent, especially compared to the competition. I wonder how it would compare to the CV 10/5.6 or 12/5.6 lenses.

I'm currently a backer, still deciding though (36 hours left, lol). I was already quite interested, but the tilt shift adapter peaked my interest again. I currently use the Canon 24mm TS-E adapted.

The tiny size and light weight of the Voigtlander 10, 12 or 15mm lenses however, make them very appealing. But to flop back again, being able to take filters on the Laowa 12mm is useful.

There's the Samsung 14mm AF f/2.8 due out soon too. No word if it's the same image quality as their other 14mm yet though, if I'm not wrong. Next thing I know, Zeiss will come out with a super ultra wide lens, haha.
