Excellent set, Jim. Had to be a blast to be there. I don't know if #11 is a crop, but I hope so. Too many favs to pick.
Rex

Thank you for the comment, Rex. It was a blast. #11 is about a 50% crop, she was still pretty close (20m?).

Jim, you did an incredible job with all of these. I would be on cloud 9 if these were mine. Such great composition, various poses and special interactions throughout.
I know if I was photographing these I could bearly [sic] contain myself.

I see from an answer that these were taken at Lake Clark. How far away were you? Camera and lens? What tour groups, if any, did you go with? Use them again. Feel free to PM me for tour groups answers.

Wonderful pictures. Glad I stopped by.

Hi Eric - thank you for the feedback, and the "bearly" passable pun.

Great set, all are truly fantastic, but I really like #12.

Lake Clark NP eh? Did you have a guide, workshop, or go it alone? Going to Alaska to hang with the bears is on my to do list, so any info would be much appreciated!

Great shots! I'm thinking of an AK trip, but not until the fall when the salmon (and eagles I hope) are running. Summer is probably a better time from the looks of your images.

If you go up to the Lake Clark falls when salmon run, you will get amazing shots. Frankly, I was there a little early for peak bear action, so your timing could be excellent.

I love your description of these bears, Brian. They are indeed fearsome apex predators. I swear, when I saw the male stand up to scratch his back on the tree, my jaw dropped. Simply massive, and the pine tree looked utterly fragile with him leaning on it. And when we startled one from down wind, the speed with which it ran blew my mind. It was an awesome experience.
