A very nice image, I like the feel of it. But you have some pretty bad banding in the sky on this. Did you edit this as an 8 bit file? Something went wrong.

No Jim. It's an 8 bit jpeg now but the compression made it look this bad. I grabbed it from my Facebook page so I'm sure Facebook applied some horrid compression to it already.

UGH... NEVER post a FB "processed" image here. It's an insult to all of us who have calibrated displays Seriously, I suggest posting Adobe RGB higher JPG compress for FM. I find it makes for better viewing.
That being said, this still looks great. Looking forward to it being updated with sans-FB-processing.
I posted 2500px version on my website and it doesn't have the posterization... It must've been the Favebook. Strange that on Facebook it actually looks OK. It must've been recompressed here as well.

I beg to differ. I processed this shot very carefully and there is not a hair of unnecessary, too much, over the top, saturation. You must have some bad monitor there...

Why did you link this from FB? Surely you have image upload here for FM? Just upload straight from your computer to here. Presentation is everything so it's always best to go straight from the source. Your light in this is too special to not present it in its best light.

I did it at work Jim.... that's why. I just replaced the image to a one from my computer it should look a lot better.
Here is my personal observation. The simple flat sky when converted to jpeg will always get compressed the most. If there are no details, the algorithm thinks there's no need for it to keep it at the highest resolution. Photoshop has this "optimized" option when saving for the web. It must be turned off...
