This female hooded merganser swam over to me when I was in the blind at Big John's Pond, on Sunday morning. We had moderate fog which produced some very nice light for these photos.

Ps. I'm going to talk to the rangers and see if they will cut some lower portals in the bliends

Very nice Morris. I am wondering if this is a Juvenile Male? Yellow eyes, dark bill, white on the chest.

I'm not a huge fan of the fog, but it certainly gives a unique look to the images. The detail is excellent, especially for fog (which I've found tends to be difficult for wildlife.)

The eyes are definitely orange. I never saw the chest

When you are close enough detail is easy in fog and you get a nice soft background to help isolate your subject

Totally agreed with you, Morris. Your natural diffuser "fog" and your skill produce very nice detail of the hoodie. I like them all.

Soft light is a wonderful thing. Look at how much portrat and glamor photographers pay for light modifiers to get the effect

This is a very nice set Morris! I especially like 3 & 4. There is a flock? of them at Belle Isle park, but I have not been able to get a decent shot yet. Well done.
