Yesterday in sub zero weather I traveled along the Black Canyon for the heck of it. Leaving Gunnison the temperature was around -26 f. When I got to the Black Canyon it had warmed up quite a bit to around -11 f. The cold weather and Christmas storm made for interesting conditions. Embrace the cold!

Very cool shots here. That is one area I have yet to explore. #3 is my favorite of these.

Pretty cool (in the literal and the figurative sense) shots. Very atmospheric with beautiful light, so detailed. #3 is my favourite, too.

The interesting issue here at this time of year was that there is so much snow you cannot get to the overlooks to shoot the canyon.

All really nice - cold, detail, and great light. I think I like them in the order presented but they all work for me.

Very nice. I am seriously looking at a move to Montrose just to be closer to places like this (and Utah, of course).

Beautiful Photos Craig! The cold can do some sweet things for you. They are all nice, but I probably like the second one the best.

You did a great job capturing the look and feel of the extreme cold. The misty atmospherics really add to that feeling.
