Never seen such a fine light on Heršubreiš, I really like your images. Did you take them from road to Askja?

Very interesting light, especially in the first one. I like it very much.
As far as I remember, Iceland Air has an airplane named after this vulcano.

It is a stroke of luck that all the factors came together. As you may know, changes in Icelandic weather are quick and dramatic. We almost didn't get this sequence (as I have described in my blog post).

No, these were not taken from the Askja route(s). For this location we had to take a very rough and rutted route that is little traveled. We were positioned to the south of Heršubreiš (roughly between the Dyngjufjöll range of Askja and Heršubreiš) near Vikrafell.

Yes, indeed, one of Icelandair's 757 is named Heršubreiš.
