Since the sunrise was behind me I guess that's the reason I was able to get a warm and cold tone of the scene? i'm not a landscape guru so i'm not too sure. What ever the case, I really loved how it came out in this image.

I did not stop down on purpose. I wanted something in this image that maximum DOF wouldnt give me. I'm not sure what it is but I know that stopping down took away something that i liked so I preferred this version. Forgive me im a landscape newbie unfortunately.

Hey Shawn,

The two tones can be cool, and this has the potential to be pretty nice. But the color balance is off here. The whole image has an odd cast to it. Try to correct that and see what the two tones look like then.

I did use an vintage overlay during processing that gave it a color cast. I removed the scratches and other stuff I didnt like and reduced the amount of color cast until i liked it.

Are landscapes meant to always be true to what the eye saw in regards to color reproduction?

thanks Jim

Hey Shawn,

The majority of our Landscape shots attempt to be true to what was seen. But with that said, there is nothing wrong at all with enhancing a photo as in your case adding a vintage filter look. But since it's easy to then be taken for an off color balance, just mentioning you were going for a vintage look lets the viewer know what you had intended as an artist and we can view it and then comment on it with that in mind.

Thanks Jim, I do appreciate the info. In the future i will make sure to be more color accurate with my images or if not let the viewer know before hand.

Thanks for taking the time to view the image!
