Two posts out of technical necessity - I'm on the road. An A7 II with a 50 STM mounted. Virtually identical barrel diameter as an FE 28-70, but considerably shorter.

Awesome! Thanks. I have an A7ii on the way so I'm pretty psyched. With the $400 price tag of the MB, though, I'm inclined to get the 55 1.8 as it's native and just $200ish more than the adapter/lens combo. I'm hoping that the alternative adapters -- Fotgab, Fotodiox, etc -- are good enough.

Wow, thanks! Those look pretty darn sharp! I wonder if I could get similar results out of a more inexpensive adapter. I'm just on the fence about the MB if I'm going to use the 55 1.8 lens. I may have to try LensRentals and see what the difference yields, if anything.

Probably not too useful, this is from my 7R, but in going through my images I realized 95% of what I shot with this lens was on my 5D2 which is even less useful. Anyway, this is at 3.5 and you can get some sense of the transition zone, some bokeh, and the sharpness. I just put it up for sale today, and I'll be sad to see it go. It's the equal or better of the 35 2.8 in most ways (less bokeh fringing, more or less equal sharpness, bokeh seems a bit smoother and it just draws a bit more organically) and it's cheaper by a *lot*, but it's kind of an awkward focal length if you have the 55 Sonnar as I do and using it adapted means you're limited in your focus modes. I enjoyed my time with the lens a lot. Anyway, full shot:
