Took a wonderful 2 week trip to the Kalahari in October in search of the black maned lions.
These were all shot with a Nikon D610 and the Sigma 150-600mm C.

These are some wonderful shots........Looks like you found the jackpot with these guys.

I am actually amazed at just how good the images look when the (very harsh) sunlight is considered.

Now I want to go on this trip !

Hi John...

These are some beautiful photographs of some elegant animals.

Number 12, for me, is the best of the bunch not so much for the "wildlife" or "environmental" appeal, but rather for the mood it creates. The lion and lioness ambling through the sand into the sunset appeals to me in a way that is hard to put into words. So, I'll just say I really like it.

Oh, these are all excellent. # 5 simply exudes power and # 12 is a really different perspective with the light and shadows. I like it.

Thank you Gene. The golden hour seemed to last just a few minutes morning and eve and the toughest was midday when the cats were in the shade.
