The wife and I drove from NC to Conowingo Dam in MD and Barnegat Light in NJ for some photography this week. Not that many eagles at the dam, what action there was stayed mostly at the middle and far side of the river - nothing close enough for the best shots. I got these two eagles tangling over a fish. The eagle on the bottom caught the fish, but made the mistake of carrying it with one foot. The eagle on top came in from behind and grabbed it with both feet, which flipped the lower eagle over and left it dangling by one foot. But it wouldn't let go, and hung there, making the other eagle carry it and the fish. Then he put on his air brakes with both wings out wide, but the upper eagle kept flying and eventually got away with the steal.

Great action capture Fred! Seems like there's plenty fish in the pond, I always wonder why they fight over a fish. No wonder Ben Franklin wanted the wild Turkey as our national symbol.

Thank you Douglas, Ron, Morris and Birdie for the comments. I certainly got a good laugh when I looked through my shots and found that the set was in focus and useable. Never saw an Eagle hang on like that before.
