A two frame panorama shot on Rollei Retro 80S with Pentax 67 90mm from a couple weeks ago. Feedback always welcome.

Beautiful shot. A couple years ago, I made the mistake of giving up on this waterfall because the road was too rough. I was obviously close enough to walk, but instead went to Butte Creek Falls, another nice one in that area.

I like it Heron. I'd experiment with about a 10% crop off of the right.

This worked out rather well, Heron! I would like to see a bit more of the scene at the bottom. Maybe a couple of more frames to the pano? :P

The subject that first attracts my eye is the light on the rock walls, which appears to rise from the mists at the bottom of the falls. Very delicate. Other elements in the scene hold that in place, but are secondary in importance, and aren't distractions. Very nice work.

And retro it looks!
Nicely done Heron.
You've cast the deciding vote for me to start doing more B&W.

Thanks for posting

Nice image. I'll bet the neg is quite sharp and has more extractable detail than this scan was able to get. The contrast in the lower right section indicates that.

This is gorgeous. I like the suggestion of cropping 10% off of the right side of the frame.

Heron,
I like your compostion and love the subtle tree on the right. You can feel the power of the falls with the spray coming up from the bottom. Beautiful Image !

Dean

Thanks Stan. The road is pretty rugged, hope you make it next time you're in the area.

Thanks, I tried that crop but prefer the extra spatial context the wider version gives.

Thank you. There is definitely more detail than you can see here. I digitize my film with a macro lens, six shots per film frame and merge them in PS. You can just see the film grain when you zoom to 100%. The .psd file for this image (two film frames) is 9971 x 5395 px and 551MB. The detail loss here is from downsizing and sharpening for web.

Glad you like the composition and thanks for explaining why. It is a powerful place. The falls were really starting to roar. The flow this day was 300cfs on the gauge in Silverton, it was up over 3000cfs after heavy rain a couple days ago.
