Hi everyone,

This photo was taken by a friend and I couldn't figure out what bird it is. I was hoping somebody from the community could shed some light on this. It was taken in Brazil I think.

I thought it was the plush-crusted jay but it didn't look exactly quite right.

Bird i.d. is not my forte, but this looks like a species of Oropendola, maybe a crested oropendola.

There are a number of similar species of Oropendola. Did you, or whoever took the photo, see any hanging, basket-like nests nearby? These may be in colonies and are characteristic of these birds.
