So I'm out with the bald eagles and I spot an unfortunate pigeon flapping around in the water. It was actually trying to fly off, but it was too wet and heavy for launching. After a one second shoot ( 10 frames) of the pigeon, I looked up, just knowing an eagle would find this easy catch. Within 20 seconds, I spot an adult bald eagle coming in. Unfortunately, I lost sufficient focus at the pickup, so I missed 2 key frames. Here's 12 out of the original 58 frames.

Great documentation my friend. We can add a pigeon with a cormie as unusual lunch for a baldie

I saw this but was in the wrong place. I believe this was the only fishing/ pigeoning series of the day.

Thanks for adding the butt shot. You got my vote for originality

Wow, Herb. too bad that I only have 2 thumbs on my hands for this superb set. Great catch for you and you have the sharp eyes to spot the pigeon in water. Bald Eagle did a fantastic job and you are way better than the Eagle to catch the whole series.

It's odd that you lost focus when it was going perpendicular to your lens yet this stough happens. Even with this happening, you took some super photos Herb

What an awesome sequence, Herb! Great spot of the drowning pigeon, and of course Mr. Eagle-eye didn't miss it either. Great job capturing the action.

How dare the Mark IV lose focus at the grab! Guess you need to upgrade to the X

Just fabulous Herb...squab is just wonderful and certainly sounds much more exotic than pigeonneau. I also prefer it to fish so that eagle and I are of the same mind. (yes some have suggested I have a bird brain...beat you to it Ron ) ...great shooting Herb!

You had a good eagle-eye to catch that. I wonder if there was another raptor involved, that put the pigeon in the water?
