Hey Sasha,
#1 is really nice, I like your idea of going to B&W on these. I would only suggest to crop a bit off the left side to lose that darkly shaded tree on the left edge. It causes the shot to be slightly unbalanced since there is not a similar tree on the right.
Now #2 is crazy. What is going on there? Some spot lighting from the sun? Whatever it is it sure gave you a cool and unique shot.
Jim
Jim, thank you for the feedback. I see what you mean in #1, but perhaps I can deal with this asymmetry by non-surgical methods
In #2, there was lots of character in these trees even without processing, but after going through different presets, I liked this particular one.

Very interesting interpretations and images. I like the first and of course the shading on the left and other areas helps frame the image. Nicely done.
Jim, thank you! I had lots of fun with these images. I already had something pre-conceived in my mind for quite a few years, so was happy with foggy wet conditions - they provided just the right light for my idea.

Sasha! These are great. I love them. When I let my eyes stare, I get pulled into an Asian Saga. Good job, especially the 2nd one.
Thank you! That's the effect I was aiming for
